Peter is a Colorado native who takes a practical approach to the law. He works with clients in the areas of estate, business, and tax planning. By practicing in these three areas, Peter has a strong relationship with each of his clients and assists them in meeting both their immediate and long-term personal and business goals.
In his capacity as an estates lawyer, Peter focus his practice on the needs of the elderly client and their family. Medicaid eligibility is such a complex and highly specialized field that most general estate planners are unfamiliar with the intricacies of Medicaid issues. Peter has undergone additional training and stays current with the frequent law and rule changes so that he can harmonize an asset protection strategy in Medicaid with the client’s existing and future planning needs. In addition Peter drafts wills and counsels individuals, couples, families, and businesses on how to transfer wealth, protect their assets, and avoid probate. He uses trusts, limited liability companies, succession planning, and charitable giving, when appropriate, to achieve tax savings and his clients’ personal objectives. Peter establishes long-term relationships with his clients and provides updated advice as they navigate different life stages.
In addition to providing entity advice during estate planning, Peter enjoys working with clients during all stages of a company’s life cycle, from formation to operations to dissolution or sale. As a business lawyer, he represents new entrepreneurs, start-up companies, Boards of Directors, and operating businesses in a range of industries. His practice includes corporate governance, commercial contracts, intellectual property, and employment and human resources advice, among other matters. Peter combines his MBA with his past management and in-house experience to provide strong legal advice while also understanding and discussing the business implications of legal decisions.
While working with clients on estate planning and business law, Peter uses his advanced legal degree (LL.M.) in taxation to advise individuals and businesses on federal income tax implications. He also represents clients during disputes with the IRS, as well as advises on tax matters for start-up businesses, acquisitions, dispositions, liquidations, and joint ventures.
